Note | "History of the town of Goshen, Connecticut : with genealogies and biographies based upon the records of Deacon Lewis Mills Norton," by a. G. Hibbard (Main Author) and Lewis M. Norton, Family History Library book 974.61/G1 H2h, p. 451. "Phineas, b.___; m. Irene Churchill." Also, Gardner Asaph Churchill, The Churchill Family in America (United States: Published by the family of Gardner A. Churchill, 1904), Family History Library film 873835 Item 1, p. 367. No record exists for this marriage. It was after 1800 because Phineas was in that census in the household of his father Daniel Cook, listed in Litchfield Town, but living in Goshen. It was before 1807 because their first child was born in July of 1807. I have assigned the date of 1806 as their marriage date. Both Litchfield and Goshen Church and Vital records have been searched, but there is no record of the marriage. (JSP) |
Note | Irene's (2) married name of Forbes appears in a land record: Kalamazoo Co. Deeds, 21:609, FHL 983,379, item 1 Warranty deed recorded Nov. 18, 1850. It is the only record found showing her marriage. An extensive search of local records has failed to prove who Mr. Forbes was. (JSP 2011) |
