Witnesses George W Mills of Hastings and Joshua Boorom of Hastings. Signed by [L L Geer], justice of the peace." Kalamazoo County Deeds 38:211, (FHL 983,387, item 2) (Noted in index to be 65 ½ acres total in Richland) Daniel Cook and wife to Lucy Spenser: This indenture made 5 Oct 1872 between Daniel Cook and Louisa J. Cook his wife of the township of Hastings, County of Berry, State of Michigan to Lucy Spencer of the township of Richland. Lovica is named in both the will and probate of Daniel Cook. Strangely, she is named as his adopted daughter, although they were married in 1868. Apparently no one believed she would be married to such an old man, although she obviously was married to and cared for him to the end of his life and they had a child together.
