Since he is listed as David with no other David living nearby, his father may have died. 1850 U.S. Census, David T. Taylor living in South Haven, Van Buren, Michigan.

DEATH: Headstone Inscription, Taylor Cemetery, Bangor, Van Buren, Michigan: "David T. Taylor born June 12, 1805, died Aug. 11, 1885." Buried in the same row are Jefferson Taylor who died as a soldier at Grafton Virginia Sept 6, 1861, born about 1838 and Eli G. Taylor who died in the Civil War at Philadelphia PA July 21, 1864, born about 1836. Both were sons of David and Emily.
