BIRTH: In the journal of Phineas Wolcott Cook he said, "My oldest sister Eliza was married to a man by the name of Salmon Case Hall of Milton Village. He was a man with a liberal education. He followed school teaching winters and summers followed painting. She had two children: a son and a daughter. they were both born the same day of the month, one year apart. The boy was named Henry and the girl Lucy." (p. 8) In the 1900 Census he was listed as being born Feb. 1835. IOWA On June 12, 1856 Salmon Hall wrote a letter to his brother-in-law Phineas W. Cook and wrote the following: "My (son) Henry is surveying public lands off west of your old winter quarters at Council Bluff."

HIS MOTHER'S PROBATE: Henry's son George H. Hall is named (no relationship recorded) in the Probate of Eliza C. Hall, Dec. 13, 1892. (Probate Court of Rich County, Utah, 1888-1899, FHL 480,877, last item on roll, p. 37.) Also named is Earl Hall whose guardian, George Whittington, was named. Since Earl is on the same line as George, obviously there is a relationship. Perhaps because Henry was in California and Earl was his youngest child, younger brother of George, he was not as well known.

DEATH: He was still alive on the 1920 Census. His Military History papers show he died 16 Sept. 1923 at Santa Monica, California. They recorded he was 68 years old, but he was actually 78. (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-21062-16432-34?cc=1916230 : image 1 of 1)

RESEARCH: Henry A. Hall and Sarah Ann Hall had a child in Ross in 1868. (Extracted records) Since Henry the son of Salmon and Eliza is listed with wife Elizabeth in 1870 and children born to Sarah L. after that, it must be the wrong Henry in Ross who had a son Henry A. Hall Jr. b. 9 July 1868.
