WASHINGTON, LITCHFIELD, CONNECTICUT Deeds for Washington, Litchfield, CT are filed under Woodbury, CT before 1800. In April of 1791 Jonathan and Sarah Churchill personally appeared in Washington, Litchfield, Connecticut to sign a deed. Sarah’s father, James Burgess, having died in 1789, left his property to his son Ezra. In that document signed and sealed by her siblings and their spouses he is referred to as, “honored father James Burgess late of said Washington, deceased.” In the deed Jonathan and Sarah are listed as of “Litchfield.” (Woodbury land records, 3:323, Family History Library film 6149.)
