Note | BIRTH: The Vital Records of Saybrook Colony, by Elizabeth B. Plimpton, 1635-1860, p. 26-27. Research Project by Bryson Cook, 193 Campbell Rd, Bedford, N.H. 03110, Oct. 2004. Plimpton, Elizebeth B, The Vital records of Saybrook Colony, 1635-1860 (S.l.: Connecticut Valley Shore Research Group, c1985), p. 26-27. "Sarah, d. Thomas & Anna, b. Feb. 3, 1715/1716." (Family History Library book 974.66 V2v) DEATH In 1795 both Sarah (Burgess) Churchill and her mother Sarah (Dunk) Burgess died. Sarah Churchill predeceased her mother by four months and she left no estate papers. Her mother however named Sarah Churchill’s children as “grand” heirs in her distribution papers. There is no death date recorded so the date is when her estate was probated. From Cothren: Deaths in Washington, "Sara Burges" Washington, 1795. Probated Jun-Sep from Cothren. PROBATE: Probate for Sarah Dunk Burgess (Found by Bryson C. Cook at the Litchfield County Courthouse Nov. 2010). Dated January, 1796: "We the subscribers being appointed distributors on the estate of Sarah Burgess late of Washington, deceased, have distributed the same. Heirs named, each to receive £8.13.1: James Burgess, Ebenezer Burgess, Mary Troop, Hannah Lovejoy, Irene Lemmon. Also named were grand-heirs 7 children of Jonathan and Sarah (Burgess) Churchill and the 7 children of her brother Daniel Dunk. (Connecticut State Library (Hartford, Connecticut) , Probate files collection, early to 1880 (Salt Lake City, Utah : Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1977-1979), (Litchfield Probate District #1138 "Sara Burges" Washington, 1795, Family History Library film 1022330.) Connecticut State Library (Hartford, Connecticut) , Probate files collection, early to 1880 (Salt Lake City, Utah : Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1977-1979), Probate #1138. "Sara Burges" Washington, 1795. Probated Jun-Sep. The listing of Dunk relatives as grand heirs suggests that she left money to her grand nephews and nieces. For example Mable Bush may have been the daughter of her half brother Jonathan Dunk. (Plimpton, Elizebeth B, The Vital records of Saybrook Colony, 1635-1860 (S.l.: Connecticut Valley Shore Research Group, c1985), p. 26-27, Family History Library book 974.66 V2v) |
