Note

Branford Vital Records, Vol 3 p. 32. There is no evidence this was the Mary Tyler who married John Burgess. However, in a research project done for Bryson Cook by the NEHGS Research Services in 2004, it was concluded that because the marriage took place in Branford, Mary was the daughter of one of the Branford Tyler brothers, Francis, Peter, Charles and George. George's daughter Mary was born 8 April 1709. Because Francis Tyler died leaving an underage child by the name of Mary, and because Francis' brother Peter had no daughter by that name, she is probably the one who married John Burgess. Until the names of other children of Francis's brothers Charles and George are known, we cannot be sure.
