Jan. 1912, in New York City; m. 12 July, 1870 Perry O. Griffen, son of Robert and Sarah Griffen. Child: Mabel Griffen, b. 11 Aug., 1872, d. 19 Aug., 1873. NILES REPUBLICAN (Presumably written about Emma Jane): On 8 April 1848 Darius B. Cook, Editor of the Niles Republican, wrote: "It has been hard work for us to issue a paper this week. Our little one of the family and our printer being sick, we have not only had to see to the "baby," but scour knives and forks, hunt for a girl to do housework, and diverse other things, besides setting up a large portion of this paper. If there is not as much reading in our paper this week, our readers will please excuse us, on our promising that if some one of them will send us a good housekeeper, we will do better hereafter." There are three boarders, all listed as printers, but unrelated.
