Genealogical Society of Vermont, Branches & Twigs, (Putney, Vermont: Genealogical Society of Vermont, 1994), 23 (Autum, 1994):148.) It was noted in John Woodcock of Rehoboth, Mass. that Comfort’s brother, Samuel was in Litchfield by 1777, citing Litchfield land records, 11:214. Both her father Jonathan and brother Samuel were living in Litchfield by 1790, see 1790 U.S. Census. Jonathan Woodcock leased his Litchfield land in 1793 and may have died shortly thereafter, (Litchfield land records, 13:466-467.) BETHLEHEM Comfort was not named, but was listed after the death of his first wife as the wife of Jonathan Churchill being received into the church. (Bethlehem Congregational membership records July 2, 1796, Bethlehem Ct. Congregational Church Records, 1738-1850, Family History library film 3803, item 1, pp. 1-7.) GOSHEN Comfort lived with the Cook Family in Goshen with her husband as early as the 1810 Census. We know she was still there in 1829 because she is mentioned in land records. Goshen Land Records, 15:497. “…Phineas Cook’s family “consisting of Phineas Cook and his wife, Widow Comfort Churchill, Eliza Cook, Darius B. Cook, Mary Ann Cook, Phineas W. (Town Records of Litchfield, Litchfield, CT, 1701-1881 FHL film 1,516,502.) The Barbour Collection of Connecticut Vital Records, citing Litchfield vital records, 1:132. "Jonathan, m.
