FATHER'S PROBATE "At a court held 26 July, 1780 came Ruhamah Cook, widow of Richmond," allowed to be guardian of Isaac, John and Asenah, minor children of Walter Cook, late of Richmond. (Probates of Berkshire County, MA, Vol. 2, p. 184b, FHL film 873,481.) NORTH EGREMONT, BERKSHIRE, MA Church Records: "Seanath Goodale, wife of Chester, admitted by letter, 1816" (Congregational Church Records, North Egremont, 1660-1884, FHL 250,319, first unnumbered page.) In the church records of Egremont the date recorded for her admission by letter from the church in Richmond was August 3, 1817. (Congregational Church Records of Egremont, MA, FHL 234,566, item 3, p. 173.) In a deposition dated 2 Feb. 1850 for Pitman Cook's Rev. War Pension Application, she said, “State of Massachusetts, Berkshire County. I Asenath Goodale of the town of Egremont in said county, aged 80 years, being duly sworn to depose and say that my maiden name was Asenath Cook. My father’s name was Walter Cook. He resided and died in the town of Richmond in this county and had a brother whose name was Pitman C. Cook..."
