"Uriah Chapin was an early settler in Burlington. David Chapin settled near Edmeston Centre, where he conducted a tanner. A son, Laurentine, lives on the homestead." "Daniel Chapin and his wife emigrated from Richmond, Berkshire Col, Mass, in about the year 1800, and settled one and a half miles west of the Centre on lands of the Cooper patent. He died in 1837, aged 63... (History of Otsego Co., NY, FHL Q-book 974.774 H2h, p. 144.) The Chapin brothers came to West Burlington about 1800 with their cousin Pitman Cook, also from Richmond.
