BIRTH: Barbour Collection of Vital Records for Pomfret, Windham, CT, Vol. 34, p. 160: son of Ebenezer Jr. and Phebe, citing VR 1:51. He was noted to be 71 at his death, although he was actually 72. Also found Pedigree Resource CD#7, Pin #660992 ISAAC COOK PROBATE Asenah's father's probate, (Berkshire County MA Probates, Inventory Vol. 40, pp. 146-149) shows notes against his estate include A. Cone ($250.00) and C. Goodale ($250.00) EGREMONT, BERKSHIRE, MA Chester had land records from 1812 to 1823. He bought land at Egremont (81:9, 82:11) in 1812. He sold land in Sheffield and Great Barrington 1818 and 1823. (FHL 879,126, 879,127 Middle District.) He moved to Egremont in April, 1812, shortly after buying his land there. (Egremont: A History, FHL 974.41/E1 H2e, p. 65.) He had been apprenticed to a tanner and shoemaker in Richmond, and at age 21 set up his own shop and had a thriving business. He went into business with Philo Upson, eventually taking over the business and calling it Goodale White Marble, supplying marble for buildings in Conn. and Penn. Twenty teams of oxen hauled the marble to Hudson where they were shipped downriver to their destination. He became one of Egremont's most influential citizens.
