Note	BIRTH: Probate records of Guilford designate the Guilford property of John Hand and his relationship to his parents and grandparents: "northwardly on the land belonging to the heirs of Benjamin Hand, Dec'd...on the dividing line between Killingworth and Guilford...on land formerly belonging to the heirs of aged Joseph Hand which willed to his grandchildren and Esther Hand..." Deborah named in her father's probate: Probates of Guilford, 1739-1750, p. 271, Feb. 4, 1745/6 (Elizabeth named as daughter of John Hand); and p. 692, May 2, 1751 as sister of John Hand "the only son" of the elder John, (Family History Library film 4354.) Probate Items of Interest: 1. His brother, Nathaniel Hand is appointed guardian of Submit Hand minor daughter of John Hand. (4:258) 2. Children named: Debra Porter, ...set to her brother John Hand...her sister Elizabeth...her sister Submit. (4:692) 3. A release signed by James Munger, Jr. and Submit Munger releasing David Bishop as a guardian of Submit Hand. David Bishop is recorded as "his uncle." This is the only proof in the record that Debra Hand's maiden name was Bishop. (A piece of paper not filed in probate packets, but found in filmed probates at NEHGS, copy in possession of Bryson Cook) 4. Distribution of personal property. Widow not named but Elizabeth and Deborah are. 5. Deborah Hands book of accounts naming "father Hand and brother Benjamin Hand." 6. The probate bond is posted by Debra Hand and John Bishop.
