HIS FATHER'S PROBATE: Named in his father's probate: Probates of Guilford, 1739-1750, p. 271, Feb. 4, 1745/6: "Land distribution between all children, Elizabeth, John and Submit Hand and Deborah Porter. Land bounds on Abraham Doude, East on Hammanost River, “the dividing line between Killingly and Guilford,” Benjamin Hand and land formerly belonging to the heirs of old aged Joseph Hand which he willed to his grand children, John Hand and Esther Hand.” Dated May 2, 1751. In his father's probate in 1751 he is named as "the only son" of the elder John Hand.
