Talcott recorded the Hand family of Guilford in detail, including James Munger, the husband of Submit Hand, daughter of John and Deborah (Bishop) Hand. Families of Early Guilford, Conn., pg. 835, 838 (Munger), 597 (Hand) and pg. 290 (Dowd). PROBATE: Probate of John Hand Jr., Vol 8 pp. 120, 197 Guilford Probates 1756-1766 (Family History Library film 4355) James Munger was named administrator in the probate of his brother-in-law John Hand Jr. WOODBURY Woodbury Land Records Vol. 11, p. 151, James Munger and Submit his wife of New Haven, Connecticut (She is sister to Deborah Hand, wife of John Porter of Bethlehem), for £8-0-0 sold Peter Welton of Waterbury “1/3 part of a certain piece of land situated lying and being in Woodbury North Purchase, so-called, said land being in the Second Tier of lots in the North Purchase in ye bounds of the town of Woodbury. Said Land being a part of the Fifth and Sixth Lotts which piece of land Elizabeth Hand bought of John Porter and Deborah his wife which piece of land contains 13 acres and ½.” Bounds on Highway west on John Minor, south part on Samuel Church and part as follows: North on Peter Welton and east on John Minor, part on Samuel Church and part on Peter Welton--all members of the extended Porter family.
