REVOLUTIONARY WAR The Churchill family was committed to the cause of the Revolution. Oliver served as his brother Jonathan’s substitute in the draft of 1779. Moses was a drum major in the 8th Connecticut Regiment. Their only sister to live to the age of maturity was Rebecca and she married a Revolutionary War veteran.
