Birth | Israel's birth is recorded: "Israel Cook, son Sam(ue)ll & Mary b. May 8, 1692." This is clear proof that Samuel's second wife Mary is the mother of Israel. |
---|---|
Note | BIRTH: Vital records are recorded in Wallingford Land Records (1:158, Family History Library film 6018) "Israel Cook, son of Samll and Mary Cook borne May 08 1692" "Families of Ancient New Haven," Vol 1, by D L. Jacobus, 1923, p. 436. Ref. is Wallingford Vital Records. Marriage: Wallingford Marriages, Vol 2, p. 2: Family History Library film 6052 The book "Early Families of Wallingford" says Israel moved to Vermont. It is likely there are more children born there because his sons John and Benjamin and Ashbel are mentioned in Vermont, for which we have no record. His son Ebenezer stayed in Wallingford until 1780; John lived in Guildhall, Vermont; Benjamin had been lost from the record; Ashbel to Vermont. Their descendants were found in Wallingford, Ct., Dryden, N.Y.; Guildhall, Vt; Saratoga, N.Y.; and Troy, N.Y. (Charles Henry Stanley Davis, Early Families of Wallingford, Family History Library book Call Number Location Collection/Shelf Availability 974.67/W3 D2d.) FATHER'S WILL: Samuel Jr. John and Mary received the major portion of the estate. Finally the statement: "And for the remainder of my estate I would gladly have disposed of it in a particular way but by reason of ye difficulties I am under I will that all my dues being discharged as above said all my estate be equally divided among my other nine children in the best way that may be. The nine children are Judith, Isaac, Joseph, Hope, Israel, Mabel, Benjamin, Ephraim and Elizabeth..." (New Haven District Probate Court, New Haven (Conn.) probate records, 1647-1916 (Salt Lake City, Utah: Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1977-1979), [Family History Library film 0005294], 2 (part 2): 305-307, Dated March 12, 1702/3.) |
