He came with a group of friends from Wallingford to settle new land in Western Massachusetts. His first land record is 27 Sept 1790, "Asapha Cook of Grandville, County of Washington, State of New York." Perhaps by 1794 he had already moved to New York. He was listed as Justice of the Peace.
