Information for Samuel and Hannah, their children, their spouses and all dates was taken from "Cooks or Cookes in Massachusetts before 1810." MARRIAGE to Hannah Lewis Wallingford Marriages, Vol. 2, p. 2: Family History Library film 6052 He was named in his father's will in Sept of 1725 CHESHIRE, CT: Found in church records at Cheshire. Several Children baptized there. DEATH: ""Ancestors of Robert Harry McIntire and Helen Annette McIntire," by Robert Harry McIntire, Gateway Press, Baltimore, 1980," p. 20-22. In this source it was said he died in Cheshire Parish. In this source it was noted "Capt. Samuel Cook became a shipping merchant of New Haven. He was only fifty when he died, but had amassed a considerable fortune. He left a considerable will in which he named his daughters Rhoda, Damaris, Lowly, Eunice and Lewe and sons Thaddeus, Samuel and Aaron. His inventory amounted to 29,103 pounds, including a shop, warehouse, and five slaves. It states here he died in New Haven. Also recorded in "Families of Ancient New Haven," Vol 1, by D L. Jacobus, 1923, p. 437. Ref. is Wallingford Center Street Cemetery. WILL Will dated 16 February, 1650 at Wallingford, proved at New Haven for "Capt. Samuel Cook." Thaddeus Cook executor. His wife Hannah named, granted the "homestead at Wallingford." Eldest son Thaddeus, second son Samuel and youngest son Aaron were named. (In possession of Janet Porter) |
