Note | BIRTH Woodbury Vital Records LR4:227, as recorded in the Barbour Collection of Woodbury Vital Records, Family History Library book 974.6 V2wl, Vol 53, p. 195. CHRISTENING "History of Ancient Woodbury," by William Cothren, Vol. 3: Births in Woodbury: "Beulah dau. of John Minor chr. Sept 1, 1734," p. 143. (Family History Library film 6181, item. 2-3.) Her name is listed Jan 5, 1755 "Beulah Porter" as a member of the church in Bethlehem, Litchfield, Co, (Cong. Ch. Records, 1738-1850, Family History Library film 3803, p. 4. BETHLEHEM: Beulah Porter was received as a member of the Bethlehem Congregational Church, May 9, 1755. (Bethlehem Ct. Congregational Church Records, 1738-1850, FHL film 3803, item 1.) Land Records Vol. 10, p. 142, John Minor of Woodbury “for love and good will for his daughter Beulah Porter, wife of Thomas Porter of said Woodbury” gave 16 acres from the north end of my east lot in the North Purchase of Woodbury, part of the Second Lot in the Fourth Tier. Bounded north and west on a highway, South and east on land of John Minor. Witness Joseph and David Minor. May 18, 1756 FATHER'S PROBATE: John Minor, "To my beloved daughter, Beulah Porter..." His son John Minor executor. Daughter Eunice Avered mentioned. Dated April 6, 1761. DEATH: She is not in the Hale Collection of Connecticut deaths. Not in Woodbury or Bethlehem. The death date is from the Thomas Minor Society, but undocumented. She was alive when her mother died Sept 16, 1777: (See Elizabeth Minor Last Will and Testament, 16 Sept 1777, #3916, Litchfield Connecticut Probate District, Family History Library film 1022349) In the name of God, Amen, I Elizabeth Minor of Goshen in the County of Litchfield and State of Connecticut being of sound mind and memory but visited with sickness and not knowing how soon I must die do make this my last will and Testament ... Item: I give unto my daughter Beulah Porter the sum of ten shillings to be paid her by my executor out of my estate. Considering the fact that all she owned went to her daughter Eunice and her son John, the ten shillings to Beulah was certainly interesting. Beulah was at that time in Wyoming, Pennsylvania and perhaps no one thought she would survive it. Beulah Beeman and two men show up in the Harpersfield 1790 Census. Name: Bulah Beeman [Beulah Porter Beeman] Home in 1790 (City, County, State): Harpersfield, Montgomery, New York Free White Persons - Males - Under 16: 1 Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over: 1 Free White Persons - Females: 1 Number of Household Members: 3 One of the males could have been her father, since he is the only one who bought land in Harpersfield. The census is filed with her as the head of household so it isn't likely Samuel Beeman was there. I have record of one son born Source: Year: 1790; Census Place: Harpersfield, Montgomery, New York; Series: M637; Roll: 6; Page: 114; Image: 71; Family History Library Film: 0568146 ORDINANCES: Endowments were done for this family in 1892-5. They were noted to be from Stratford, and Woodbury, Fairfield, CT. With no vital records available they didn't know. However, there is no baptism recorded for any family member. All ordinances should be finished before sealings are performed. |

Note | Barbour Collection of Woodbury Vital Records, F.H.L. book 974.6 V2wL, Vol. 53, p. 213. "Thomas Porter m. Beulah Minor." Also Family Records in "Descendants of Robert Porter" recorded which Thomas was married to Beulah. Also in Bethlehem Congregational Church Records, 1738-1850, FHL film 3803, p. 30. It is certain she is the daughter of John Minor because in his will he names her: "to my beloved daughter Beulah Porter..." Dated April 6, 1761, Woodbury Probates, Vol. 5, p. 102, FHL 6172) |
