BIRTH and DEATH: "Descendants of Thomas Porter and Beulah Minor" Pedigree Resource CD 22. See His father's probate for verification of birth year. HIS FATHER's PROBATE: Samuel Beeman, age 17, son of John, dec'd, and Elizabeth Beeman of Kent, Litchfield, Connecticut. Elizabeth Beeman of Kent posted Bond to obtain guardianship of the boy 16 June 1777. (Register of Probate Records, Litchfield District, Vol 4, p. 392, FHL film 4732.) This record verifies the birth date of Samuel in 1760. HARPERSFIELD, NEW YORK Thomas Porter assigns power of attorney to Samuel Beeman (the husband of Beulah Porter, his daughter) 12 Nov. 1789, p. 508 (FHL film 959, 555) Assignment of a mortgage from Thomas Porter by his attorney Samuel Beeman to Putnam Catin of Wilkesbarre, PA. 2 Nov. 1791 p. 509 (FHL film 959, 555) Harpersfield was formed in 1788 and immediately had a Presb/Congregational Church. No records listed name the Beemans or Porters. There are no local land records or published cemetery records for either family, although Thomas was listed as one of the original land purchasers for Harpersfield..

1790 CENSUS Harpersfield, Delaware, N.Y. Beulah Beeman is listed with 2 males,, but Samuel is not there because she is head of household. One of the males could be her father because he is the only one in the family who owned land in Harpersfield. The only Samuel Beeman is in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT with 2 males under 16, 2 males over 16 and 4 females. Not possible they are the same. No other Samuel or Samuel D. Beeman, Beman or Beaman.

1800 CENSUS: The Thomas Minor Society claimed there is a Samuel Beamon in Washington County, New York who is the present Samuel, but that one is definitely Samuel Jr. There is a Samuel Beeman in Milton, Cayuga, New York. 31010-21010: Five children under 10 and 2 children 10-16. A male and a female 26-44. (Beulah would be 42 and Samuel would be 40) There is no other Beulah, Samuel or Samuel D. Beeman or Beaman in Ancestry.com. A descendant Nancy Smith of Peru, NY believes this is our Samuel and Beulah. (Correspondence with BCC) 1810 CENSUS: Only one Samuel: He is in Ellsburg, Jefferson, NY: 11010-22111. One male under 10, one male 10-15 and one male 26-44. (Samuel would be 50) Two females under 10, two females 10-15, one female 16-25, one 26-44 and one over 45. (Beulah would be 52) No Beulah listed alone. This could be Beulah living with her son Samuel. 1820 CENSUS: A Samuel Bemun or Bemien (listed Bemien) at Middletown, Delaware, NY. 011101-01001. One male 10-16, one 16-18 and one 18-26. One male 45 or older. One female 10-16 and one over 45. (Samuel would be 60 and Beulah would be 62.) There is no other variation of Beeman or Porter in town.
