Note | BIRTH: Self-endowment records give the date (FHL film 178,052.) A membership was not found for her (Sheila Porter) That is probably due to the fact that Eliza was "the first girl to be born in this new settlement (Woodruff.)" ("History of Polly Tryphena Fairchild Bryson" by Margaret Bryson Longhurst, p. 6) Also recorded in Rich Memories, p. 289. BAPTISM: FHL film 178,052 MARRIAGE: (From her Autobiography, p. 5:) "I went to my sister Sadie’s in Garden City for a while, met J. W. Cook and went home with him to help his sister Jennie Dustin cook for the hay men who were working for him. I spent a very pleasant summer. Jennie proved to be a very dear friend and sister to me, always kind and ready to assist me in every way. "I stayed on the ranch until September 1. During that time I became engaged to J. W. and went home and prepared to get married. On September 30, 1891, we were married in the Logan temple by Apostle M. W. Merrill. Mother and J. W.’s sister Harriet went with us. We worked three days in the temple. Everything was so beautiful and fine it was glorious." PARIS, IDAHO In her sister Sarah's obituary in 1953, she was named and said to be living in Paris, Idaho. ENDOWMENT: FHL film 178,052, Logan DEATH: Salt Lake Tribune 2 Nov. 1955; Deseret News 2 Nov. 1955 Birth and Death recorded in her burial record: Eliza Snow Cook born 17 April 1872 at Woodruff, Utah, died 31 October 1955 at Logan. Her parents and husband named in the record, as well as several of her children. (FHL 982,442, Paris Idaho Stake cemeteries (burials), 1863-1970). Also found in Bryson family records, Margaret Longhurst, 227 West 4 No., Logan, Utah. |

Note | From the Autobiography of Joseph Wolcott Cook, p. 30: "During this summer, Chauncy Dustin and his wife lived with me and boarded the hands in haying. They hired Eliza Snow Bryson to help Jenny with the housework. While she was there, I persuaded her to marry me. On September 30, 1891, we were married in the Logan Temple. Chauncy Dustin made a filing on some land close to mine and moved to it. Lile, this is the pet name we had given my wife, and I began to make a home in earnest. Happiness was my lot once more after nearly seven years of loneliness." |
