Note | BIRTH: Barbour Collection of Farmington Vital Records, F.H.L. book 974.6 V2wl, V. 12, p. 310. BIRTH and DEATH: The Town and City of Waterbury, Connecticut, from the Aboriginal Period to the Year 1895, Edited by Joseph Anderson, D.D. 1896, p. 104. F.H.L. book 974.67/U1 H2.a) Farmington was settled in 1640 by Hartford citizens. Two of the first settlers were Robert Porter and his son Thomas. Southington parish in Farmington was settled by Daniel Porter and his son Daniel and William Porter. (Farmington in Connecticut, by Christopher P. Bickford, FHL book 974.62/F1/H2b.) "Dr. Daniel Porter, the son of Daniel First, lived on the west side of the main street and was paid twelve pounds yearly to set all the broken bones in the colony." A grandson of Thomas, he removed to Waterbury. ("Farmington Papers," by Julius Gay, 1929, N.E.G.H.S. Library, F-104/F4/G39/1929, p. 138) On p. 149 of that book Daniel (Probably Daniel Jr.) appears in a list of Colonial War soldiers from Farmington. This family on Pedigree Resource File, CD 16 PIN 340626. WATERBURY His history as a bone-setter in Waterbury is written in "Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut," Ed, W.R. Cutter, E.H. Clement, S. Hart, et. al., Vol, 1, p. 585. (FHL book 974.6 D2c, Vol. 1.) His children and descendants are also named there. DEATH: Barbour Collection of Waterbury Vital Records, F.H.L. book 974.6 V2w1 Vol 50, p. 273. "Dr. Daniel Porter died Jan 18, 1727." Also found "On Dec 19, 1851, Daniel Porter died at age 83." This would fit Daniel born in 1669 perfectly. ("Ancient Burying-Grounds of the Town of Waterbury Connecticut, Katharine A. Prichard, 1917, p. 86 #523, F.H.L. book 974.7W1, V3p.) |
