BIRTH: ("Some Descendants of Robert Porter, Farmington, Connecticut, 1640, by Margaret Porter Miller, FHL book 929.273 P835m, p. 2. No date given, but spouses are both listed. Named as second wife of John, son of Dr. Daniel Porter in "Genealogical and Family History of the State of Connecticut," Ed, W.R. Cutter, E.H. Clement, S. Hart, et. al., Vol, 1, p. 584. (FHL book 974.6 D2c, Vol. 1.) She may have been widow of Joseph North ("History of Goshen," F.H.L. book 974.61/G1, H2h, p. 502.) Martha named as daughter of Thomas Porter the emigrant in Farmington in (Some Descendants of Robert Porter, Farmington, Connecticut, 1640, Margaret Porter Miller, FHL book 929.273 P835m, p. 2.) I believe the only record of her existance is the cemetery record and that Miller assumed her maiden surname was Porter. The John Porter Miller named as her husband was not connected to any family. Without more records it may be impossible to prove either way, but common sense implies this is right. DEATH: Old Cemetery Records of Farmington: "Martha Porter, wife of John, died July 11, 1749, age 82."
