Thankful Cook is given the age of 64 on her death record.

Note

BIRTH "Thankful Tuttle was born 30 May 1759; married Philip Cook." She was the daughter of Timothy Tuttle and Hannah Wadhams of Goshen. (Wadhams Genealogy, by Mrs. Harriet Weeks Wadhams Stevens, p. 48-49, Courtesy Google Books. Information was noted to be from the Norton Record and History of Goshen) In this record it notes Hannah Wadhams was the daughter of Noah Wadhams and Anne (Hurlbut) Wadhams, born in Wethersfield 24 August 1721. Hannah (Wadhams) Tuttle married 27 January 1743 Timothy Tuttle (citing History of Goshen p. 573) who was born in Cheshire, CT 4 Dec. 1716, the son of Deacon Timothy (Simon(2), William (1) and Thankful (Doolittle) Tuttle of Wallingford, CT. This couple settled in Goshen where he died 23 October 1760. Hannah remarried 27 March 1762 Silas Richmond of Goshen (History of Goshen 575), and by him had two children. Hannah and Timothy Tuttle had 11 children, the last of whom--including Thankful--were born in Goshen. (Wadhams Genealogy, by Mrs. Harriet Weeks Wadhams Stevens, p. 48-49) (Courtesy Google Books) Her death record shows she died March 26, 1825, age 74, which puts her birth about 1751-2. Rootsweb entry for this family shows birth date 30 May 1759. She would have been age 66 at death. Elmer Shepherd collection gave the date 1752.

DEATH "In memory of Thankful, wife of Philip Cook, who died March 26, 1825, aged 74." (Nassau-Schodack Cemetery, Nassau, New York, Family History Library film 532,618, item 9, p. 54.) She is buried in Row 2, section 3. Also found Elmer Shepherd Collection, Berkshire, Mass. and Litchfield, CT, Family History Library film 1684313, item 7. However, death dates of Phillip and Thankful were reversed. In the "History of the Town of Goshen, CT, by Hibbard, it notes she was 64 years old when she died. ( Family History Library book 974.61/G1 H2h, p. 450, p. 451) Rootsweb lists this family and gives her death 26 March 1825 Schodack, N.Y.

RESEARCH Without a birth record, we don't know which Thankful Tuttle married Philip Cook. There is a Thankful Tuttle, child of Ephraim Tuttle, baptized April, 1752 at Cheshire. (Baptisms From Parson Hall's Records 1724-1752, Extracted from History of Cheshire, Connecticut from 1694 to 1840, Joseph Perkins BEACH, 1912) Her birth seems to match the projected birth date from Thankful Cook's age at death. However, the Wadhams Genealogy has so much information about this family, including children, birth dates and spouses, I believe it is the most correct of any source. Therefore, until further evidence presents itself, the birth date 30 May 1759 in Goshen, recorded in Wadhams Genealogy, will be used.

MARRIAGE Thankful married Philip Cook, son of Daniel Cook and Elizabeth Pond. He was born 2 February 1752 in Goshen, Connecticut and died January 9, 1816. They are buried at Nassau-Schodack Cemetery, Nassau, New York. MARRIAGE DOCUMENTATION The marriage is recorded in the book "History of the Town of Goshen, CT, by Hibbard, Family History Library book 974.61/G1 H2h, p. 451. No date is recorded, nor are the birth date and parents of Thankful recorded.
