Note | BIRTH: "The Churchill's of America," (Connecticut Branch); 929.273/C475c, MARRIAGE: Churchhill Families of America and FGS submitted by Melvin Duane Churchill Family lists Joseph's wife's name as Lydia DICKINSON while Wethersfield Vital Records lists the name as Ledia DICKERMAN. LITCHFIELD, CT He was the first in the family to see the town of Litchfield, having seen it as a soldier. "August 18, 1724: Fifteen men were improved in scouts under the command of Sergt. Joseph Churchill, at Litchfield and new Milford; have orders sent to the 5th instant of October to draw off and disband." These men were dispatched to scout for Indians in the King's service. Signed by Joseph Talcott (Kilbourne, p. 41) and reprinted in The History of Litchfield, p. 21-22 "At the General Assembly, in May, 1725, Joseph Churchill of Wethersfield," mentioned in the preceeding paragraph, presented a Memorial, stating that he had served for 15 weeks at Litchfield, but had received no pay for Sundays. He therefore asked pay for 15 Sundays. This was granted in the Lower House, but lost in the Council. (The History of the town of Litchfield, 1720-1920, by Alain C. The Children: Nathaniel age 22 years, Mary Edwards age 25, Elizabeth Butler 21, Dina 18, Samuel 11, Joseph 9, David and Jonathan 7, Hannah 3 years old. “Page 26 - Vol. VII: 9 March 1701-2. This Court Appoint Nathaniel Churchill to be Guardian to David and Jonathan Churchill, minors, 8 years of age, Children of Joseph Churchill, deceased. Recog. L100. “Dist.
