No record has been left except that his widow remarried in June of 1689 Edmund Scott, Jr. Barbour Collection of Waterbury Vital Records, F.H.L. book 974.6 V2w1 Vol 50, p. 278. "Sarah, wid. Benjamin, m. Edmun Scott." Also found in "Some Descendants of Robert Porter, Farmington Connecticut 1640," compiled by Margaret Porter Miller, Gateway Press, 1986. F.H.L. book 929.273, P835m. Judd says he died in Waterbury. (F.H.L. film 234,515.) One book ("The Porters of Hartford?") stated Benjamin died in Waterbury 1688 or 1689. Land was given by his father Robert to the widow shortly after death: "My hand and seal this 19 Feb. 1689." (Edmond Scott married the widow of Benjamin Porter in June 1689.) (Spelling modernized, The History of Waterbury, by Henry Bronson, FHL film 599,254, item 1, p. 176.) It is here noted there is a discrepancy in the dates. This deed bears the date Feb. 19, 1689, which, in new style should read 1690, and yet, the widow is stated on the record to have married Edmund Scott "sometime in June 1689."
