Note | Ancestral File AFN:21ZS-Q3T. He is listed as son of Lambert and Mindwell, but is given the birthplace of Connecticut in 1760. Since he is not in Goshen Vital Records with the other early children, it is more likely he was born later after the family moved to Berkshire County, Mass. The year 1766 is a guess. Since he was named "eldest son" in his father's will in 1800, it is possible he was born sooner, but we have vital records for the birth of his four older siblings, so his death record will have to solve the problem. 1790 CENSUS: Stephentown, Albany, New York. Levi Cook has one male over 16, none under 16, and 3 females in the household. Next door are Lambert his father, and Joseph, his brother. ?1810 CENSUS: Nassau, Rensselaer, NY, 20101-10001, 2 males under 5, 1 male 16-25 and one male 45 or older. (Levi would be 50) One female under five and one over 45. Not known if this is the right Levi. HIS FATHER'S WILL The "eldest son Levi" named in the will of Lambert Cook dated 26 Dec. 1800 and proved the next year at Stephentown, Rensselaer, New York. Since we have birth records for Joseph and the other three eldest children born in Goshen, but not one for Levi, it is perplexing he would be called the eldest son. Joseph was named as Executor with Mindwell's husband Henry Tucker. |
