Peter Welton purchased land in Woodbury on June 21, 1760, a deed in which Abigail's siblings are named

BIRTH: The Barbour collection of Connecticut town vital records, Vol. 50, p. 272 (FHL 974.6 V2): "Peater, s. (George, s. of John, Sr. & Elizabeth), b. Sept. 28, 1718." He was 72 when he died 2 June 1790, which makes him most likely the Peter Welton born 28 Sept. 1718 in Stratford. "The town and city of Waterbury, Connecticut, from the aboriginal period to the year eighteen hundred and ninety-five"Appendix, p. 151, (FHL 974.67/W1 H2) states "Peter Welton, son of George."

WATERBURY: This family is listed in the History of Waterbury, p. 551 Appendix, FHL film 599,254, as taken from the town's vital records. All children are listed with birth dates.

WOODBURY LAND RECORDS: 24 Jan. 1754, Thomas Porter of Woodbury sold Samuel Church of same and to Peter Welton of Waterbury, land on the North Purchase of Woodbury, and mentions as bounds the heirs of his late wife, Elizabeth Porter, deceased and the land owned by the heirs of his mother Joanna Porter deceased." (Woodbury Deeds, 9:190.) "21 Jun. 1754, Samuel Church of Woodbury and Peter Welton of Waterbury quitclaim to "our brother Thomas Porter," of said Woodbury all our rights to certain land there. (Woodbury Deeds, 10:88.) Thomas Porter’s Quit Claim from Church and Welton: ”To all people to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Know ye that we Samuel Church of Woodbury in the said county of Litchfield and Colony of Connecticut in New England and Peter Welton of Waterbury in New Haven County and Colony aforesaid for a valuable consideration in hand received before the ensealing hereof of our brother Thomas Porter…” (Jan. 21, 1754, Woodbury Land records: Vol. 10, p. 88.) John Porter and Deborah Porter his wife of Woodbury In the county of Litchfield and colony of Connecticut in New England for the consideration of thirteen pounds lawfull money received to our full satisfaction of Peter Welton of Waterbury in Newhaven County and Colony aforesaid do give , grant bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Peter Welton one certain Tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Bethlehem in said Woodbury being in that tier of Lotts in part of fifth and sixth lotts butted and bounded as follows (viz) north by highway east of John Minors south on Samuell Church and said Weltons own land and west on John Minor or Capt Frisby containing four acres and an half it being part of the lott of land that belonged to Elizabeth Hand and since to John Hand late of Guilford deceased and lately set of by distribution to Deborah the wife of the said John Porter.
