Note | BIRTH: "Elizabeth, daughter of John Blackleech bapt. 4:6:1644," (Records of the First Church in Salem, Mass, FHL 974.45/S1 K2r, p. 20.) BIRTH: Contributing staff and genealogists, NEGH Register, Vol 148, p. 18-19. She is mentioned as John Blackleach's daughter when John's children signed a paper consenting to a "sale of land that our father has already made over to goodman Smith of Rocky Hill near Wethersfield." John Stedman signed in Boston. (Wethersfield Deeds, 2:289, as quoted in NEHGR Vol 184, p. 19.) It was also shown that Stedman's household goods were in the Blackleach house when they were inventoried in February 1676, (Connecticut Colonia Probate Records, 3:153.) Elizabeth's brother John Jr. called Stedman's son John "cousin" in 1708 (Manwaring, Charles William, "A Digest of the Early Connecticut Probate records, supra, note 57 , 2:22-24.) DEATH The Vital Records of Saybrook Colony, by Elizabeth B. Plimpton, 1635-1860, p. 26-27. Research Project by Bryson Cook, 193 Campbell Rd, Bedford, N.H. 03110, Oct. 2004. Elizabeth died leaving a baby 3 months old. Also note that Thomas died 5 years later. RESEARCH Thomas' father, Thomas Dunk I was married to Mary Price North, but she is not the blood mother of Thomas II. (GS#974-B2ng, Vol. II p159, N.E. Hist. & Gen. Records). In Original family records, it was thought her name was Elizabeth Stedman, but that was her married name. NEGHS Research proved her name to be Elizabeth Blackleach. (Research Project by Bryson Cook, 193 Campbell Rd, Bedford, N.H. 03110, Oct. 2004.) |

Note | NEGHR Vol 148, p. 18. Research Project by Bryson Cook, 193 Campbell Rd, Bedford, N.H. 03110, Oct. 2004. It was noted on p. 19 she was treated at age 16 by Dr. John Winthrop of Hartford. Again his record shows he saw "John Stedman his wife at Hartford" on 6 March 1665. the marriage obviously took place after 1660 and before March 1665. JWJ Medical Records, 247, 588 as quoted in NEHGR Vol 148, p. 19. |
