Note | (AFN:8MRX-9C) Signer of the Declaration of Independence General in the Revolutionary War Governor of the State of Connecticut Oliver's wife was first cousin to Phineas Wolcott Cook's Great-grand aunt Ruhamah Cook Partly because of this powerful and patriotic man, Litchfield County, CT became a source of great strength to the Revolutionary Army. Every single ancestor in our line and all his sons and sons-in-law participated in the Revolution in Litchfield County. In the early stages of the war he brought home a statue of King George of England, melted it down, and made musket balls for the Revolutionary effort. Small wonder Phineas and Irene Cook named their son after him. |
