He was the son of Robert and Abigail Goode Moulton. Children are also named in this source. His father and ancestry named in the Boston Transcript, He was the son of was the son of Robert Moulton and (?????) whom he married in 1641, niece of Emmanuel Downing who married Governor Winthrop’s sister Lucy. He was the son of Robert Moulton, who came 1629 probably with his son Robert. (Printed in the Boston Transcript, 8 Sept 1903, p. 6, #6276) The Moulton family can be found in New England Historical and Genealogical Register for January, 1878, also in Thatcher’s History of Plymouth, Mass.
