BIRTH: Barbour Collection of Farmington Vital Records, F.H.L. book 974.6 V2wL, vol 12, p. 309. "Asa (son Jonathan) b. Sept 15, 17--. It is the only Asa and the only Jonathan in Farmington, so I'm assuming his birthdate is 24 years before his marriage. REVOLUTIONARY WAR: Asa Porter MA Line. His will dated 12 Mar 1801 is at Topsfield in Essex co. Mass. He names his wife Ruth, Nephew Elisha, son of his brother Samuel. The nephew Elisha signed p.o.a. 22 Nov 1834 in Essex Co. Mass. Soldier died about 1802. This may be the present Asa because he had a brother Samuel. However, their residence in Essex Co. Mass is unlikely.
