REVOLUTIONARY WAR: Enlisted 1774/5 by Capt. Denton. Occupation mason 1776 joined the loyalist Kings Orange Rangers, age 21 under John Bayard 60th Reg. of foot. 1776, Newark. Deserted Sept 16 from Capt. Robt Johnston Co. 1st Bagttalion, York forces. Oct, 1777, Sailed north with British expedition Fort Clinton & Montgomery 17 Dec. 1777, with King's Orange Rangers at Post Paulus Hook, (Jersey City, N.J.) Oct 1778, Transferred to Halifax, Nova Scotia because of mutiny. 10 Oct 1783, Disbanded, King's Orange Rangers 23 Dec 1784 deed granted, 100 acres "at west end of a Sea Beach, Bay of Fundy, Sunbury Co.("Charles Finch Ancestry Identified," by Brent Hale, Cook Family Newsletter, August 2004, p. 2.)
